Access

There are many ways to travel to Shimane.

If you are traveling by plane, there are two airports accesible in Shimane. Eastern Shimane can be accessed through Izumo En-musubi Airport, and it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes from Tokyo Haneda via a JAL flight. Western Shimane can be accessed through Hagi Iwami Airport, and it takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Tokyo Haneda via an ANA flight. Connecting flights to Oki are also available through Izumo En-musubi Airport.

If you are traveling by train, it takes 6 hours from Tokyo, and then 3 hours 45 minutes from Kyoto to reach Matsue, using the shinkansen bullet train and the limited express Yakumo train.

Buses are also available from Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe, and Hiroshima.
