Naniwa Issui-Matsue Shinjiko Onsen (Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture) has become the first Japanese hotel to be awarded the Best International Venue of the Blue Badge Access Awards 24/2025, which recognize and honor outstanding initiatives for accessibility (such as barrier-free design) in hotels, restaurants, and public facilities around the world!

  The Blue Badge Access Awards 2024/25 launched at the House of Lords in 2016 recognises, celebrates and rewards exceptional accessibility across hotels, restaurants and other public venues worldwide, with a focus on style, thoughtful design, innovation and liberty.

  This award recognized the facility for its barrier-free rooms and the installation of lifts that allow people with disabilities to bathe in the hot springs, a traditional Japanese culture. This way, everyone can enjoy the hot springs regardless of their ability status. This is the first-ever facility awarded in Japan and it is also the first time that such an award has been given to a single facility in Southeast Asia (there were 71 nominations in a total of 11 categories from around the world)

  Naniwa Issui is located in Matsue Shinjiko Onsen town, facing the northern shore of Lake Shinji.
