Oki Tranditional Sumo
The Oki traditional sumo tournament, a traditional competition held throughout the night in Okinoshima Town, will take place on September 14 and 15, using a specially made sumo ring to be built in the parking lot of Okinoshima Town Hall, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the merger of the town.
Rooted in the Edo Period, one of the attractions of this event is its rarity, as it is only held on special occasions, such as when the shrine roof needs refitting, or to celebrate a special event on the island.
