One of the oldest onsens in Japan, Tamatsukuri Onsen has a history dating back to at least 733 AD, and was mentioned as “the Bath of the Deities” in the Izumo no Kuni Fudoki (Gazetteer of Izumo Province).
You can choose from a wide variety of traditional Japanese inns lining the banks of the Tamayu River, which runs through the heart of this charming onsen town, or opt for one of the area’s luxury hotels.
