Toda Castle Ruins are designated as nationally-designated historical ruins and as one of Japan’s 100 finest castles, and as a Japanese heritage site, they are registered as a Tangible Cultural Property. Toda Castle was the castle of a daimyo in the Warring States Period of the 16th Century, and the castle at the time reportedly flourished. The castle complex comprises a large number of compounds on a hill, centering on Gassan, where key sections such as the inner citadel are located.
