The Hikawa Canola Field
A yellow carpet of canola flowers
A shrine that is revered for its reputed benefits in relieving diseases of the eye, and which also boasts amazing views that are well worth seeing
Stunning views can be enjoyed from Ichibata Yakushi’s grounds, which overlook Lake Shinji and Mount Daisen. The ancient 1,300-step path leading to the shrine is also charming and impressive. Ichibata Yakushi comes alive with visitors during a flower festival held every year on April 8, as well as at a so-called “yokasan” event held on the 8th of every month. The principal object of worship at Ichibata Yakushi is a statue of Yakushi Nyorai that was fished out of the sea by a fisherman. The shrine has been revered locally since long ago for its reputed ability to relieve diseases of the eye.
