Tasty and healthy delicacies from Lake Shinji
Lake Shinji is home to a number of exceptionally delicious fish and shellfish, in particular, the sea bass, eel, prawn, smelt, shijimi clams, carp, and icefish, which are known as the Seven Delicacies of Lake Shinji. The shijimi clams are of special note and if you stay overnight in Tamatsukuri or Matsue they will undoubtedly appear on your breakfast menu. Reputedly good for the liver, shijimi clams are recommended after a night of drinking.
