Located on the southern side of Saigo Bay, Saigo Misaki Lighthouse offers a magnificent panorama view of the Saigo Bay and Mt. Daimanji, the highest mountain in the Oki Islands. The Misaki area, where Saigo Misaki Lighthouse and Oki Geopark Airport are located, is one of the geosites on the Oki Islands. Its flat and gently sloping hill areas, which were created by pyroclastic flow from volcanic activity 500 thousand years ago, make it the ideal location for the runaway of the Oki Airport.
